December 21, 2017 Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the Decree "On the perpetuation of the memory of D.A. Granin and the celebration of the 100th anniversary of his birth. "In 2019, Daniil Alexandrovich Granin, a writer, thinker, and true devotee, would have turned 100 years
old. He once said very precise words:"Culture cannot be led, it must be understood and carried in itself"

A decree was signed on celebrating the anniversary of Daniil Granin in 2019, perpetuating his memory. I consider it very important that this should be an event uniting the society. So that the heritage of our great
compatriot should serve the future development of Russian culture", the President emphasized. The year 2019 is declared the year of Granin in honor of the 100th birthday of the writer.
Daniil Granin died on the 99th year of his life on July 5, 2017 in St.Petersburg. 120 events will be held within the Year of Granin. The official opening of the "Year of the Century of Daniel Granin" is scheduled
for February 9, 2019 in St. Petersburg from the opening ceremony of a memorial plaque on the house where D.A. Granin, (M. Posadskaya St., 8) and a gala evening concert in the St. Petersburg Academic Philharmonic named after. D.D. Shostakovich with Maris Yanson and Denis Matsuev. Participation of the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev and Acting Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov is expected. Also on February 9, the evening in memory of the writer will be held at the St. Petersburg State Conservatory. In the Central District will appear the square named after Daniel Granin. Monument to the writer Daniel Granin will be installed near the library on Far Eastern Avenue in Nevsky District.

The annual "Petrovsky Congress" in June 2019 will be devoted to the Granin's work. Also during the year will begin the publication of the complete works of the writer. At the end of the year, within the event of the St. Petersburg Cultural Forum, a conference "D. Granin. Life. Creation. Ministration". Also the holding of the All-Russian competition for regional libraries by D.A. Granin's works ("Granin literature"), Marathon of Good Daniil Granin, Annual "Summer Graninsky Festival: Komarovo and its
inhabitants", composed of a series of "Memorial Evenings" dedicated to prominent figures of Russian culture and science are planned.
A documentary film by Bella Kurkova about Daniil Granin, theatrical
productions based on his works in the leading theaters of Moscow, St. Petersburg and other cities of Russia are being prepared. Several publications will be released: the complete works of D.A. Granin, a
photo album for the 100th anniversary of the birth of D.A. Granin, a collection of memories and an authorized biography of D.A. Granin for release in the series "ZHZL". And the largest Russian air carrier
Aeroflot will assign the name D.A. Granin to one of the aircrafts of the airline. Daniil Granin is a Russian writer, a veteran of World War II and an honorary citizen of St. Petersburg. The main theme of his works is the development of scientific and technical creativity. Almost all his books are
devoted to scientific research, searching, the struggle between seekers, principled scientists and people who are not gifted, careerists. The most famous of his works are the novels "The Seekers", "I am in Thunderstorm", "Zubr", the essay "This Strange Life" and "Fear", the stories "The Beautiful Utta", "The Garden of Stones", "The Month Upside Down", "The Rain in a strange city. Already in the XXI century, the novel "My lieutenant" became the winner of the national literary award "Big Book"(2012).
